The results of this year's submission campaign once again confirm that Russian festivals remain a major draw for the professional animation community worldwide.
This year, the festival's directorate received 2,970 entries. Filmmakers from 111 countries submitted their work to Animur, with entries coming from nearly every continent. The largest number of submissions came from Russia. Rounding out the ten most active countries were China, Brazil, India, Iran, the USA, Argentina, Turkey, Taiwan, France, and the Republic of Korea.

As a reminder, the festival's international competition was not held last year. Some filmmakers who had submitted their films earlier still wanted to take part in Animur and were automatically carried over into the 2026 submission campaign. We're grateful to everyone who confirmed their participation and stayed with us.

Today, Animur continues to strengthen its position as an international platform for creative dialogue, professional exchange, and exposure to contemporary world animation. It's a great honor for the festival team to see Khabarovsk and the Russian Far East becoming a meeting point for animators from all corners of the globe.

This year, running alongside the Animur festival, will be the ASEAN–Russia Animation Market forum, organized jointly with the Russian Animated Film Association. Representatives from all 11 ASEAN member states are expected to attend the forum in Khabarovsk, making it one of the largest international platforms for professional dialogue on animation in the Russian Far East. Competition entries from ASEAN countries have already been received, with artists from Indonesia, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam among the contestants. We hope the forum proves productive, and that as early as next year, audiences in Khabarovsk will be able to see work by filmmakers from Brunei, Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Timor-Leste, who are not yet represented in the festival's competition program.

We thank every filmmaker who entrusted us with their story and submitted work to the festival. Ahead lies one of the most important stages — the selection process for the competition program, after which audiences will get to see the best work created by animators from around the world.
