Detailed Timeline of Russia-ASEAN: Animation Connect
May-September 2026. Project Launch
In May 2026, the international project "Russia-ASEAN: Animation Connect" was launched, bringing together Russia and all 11 ASEAN countries. Active preparations are underway for the ASEAN–Russia Animation Market forum: a list of delegates from ASEAN countries is being compiled, applications from participants are being accepted, and the project's information campaign is being rolled out.
October 1-4, 2026. Animation Market. Animur Khabarovsk
The project's key offline event is the international ASEAN-Russia Animation Market forum, held October 1-4, 2026, in Khabarovsk as part of the V International Animation Film Festival "Animur," which draws over 7,500 attendees annually. The business program includes an official opening ceremony, round tables with government authorities, RAFA, and partner organizations, pre-arranged B2B meetings between Russian and ASEAN participants, presentations by media industry players, thematic sessions on IP, co-production, distribution, children's content, AI, and education, special screenings of animation from ASEAN countries, and an exhibition on the history of animation in Russia and the ASEAN countries. The forum also marks the official launch of the bilingual information platform for industry professionals.

Early 2027. Animation Lab No. 1
In early 2027, the first Animation Lab masterclass will take place, continuing the professional dialogue begun at the forum and strengthening ties between participants from Russia and ASEAN countries, building on the already-active bilingual platform.
Mid-2027. Animation Lab No. 2
The second Animation Lab masterclass will bring the project's educational track to a substantive close and prepare participants for the final stage the concluding session and presentation of the research findings.
Throughout the project. Animation Market Research
A large-scale study of the animation markets of all 12 countries, covering industry structure, key players, current trends, government support measures, content flows, and practical opportunities for cooperation. The research findings will form the basis for all subsequent stages of the project.
October 2027. Final Online Session
The project will conclude in October 2027 with a final online session, at which the complete findings of the animation market research across all 12 countries will be published, along with the announcement of new partnerships and cooperation agreements formed over the project's 18 months. Upon the project's conclusion, the bilingual professional platform will be transferred to the Russian Animated Film Association (RAFA) for continued development as a permanent resource for the Russia–ASEAN animation community.
